Not A Review Of Top Gun 2

I haven’t seen the new Top Gun. As best I can surmise, Maverick is training a racially diverse group of pilots that includes tough females to bomb an Iranian nuclear facility. Although the commercials give the impression there are some good action scenes, it’s unlikely I’ll ever see this movie.

A decent new movie is one of these things I just assume we can’t have anymore, and given the incoming famines and economic crisis this really isn’t that big of a deal. One facet of collapse is that you see it everywhere, so why should the big screen be different?

The first Top Gun was great. When I first saw it, I was too young to understand that perhaps there were perhaps some homosexual undertones. The soundtrack, dialogue, and action scenes were good enough that I never really noticed until somebody pointed that out to me as an adult. I must admit, the volleyball scene was highly questionable.

The original also had a couple of other advantages. First of all, the plot was plausible. Second, it made you feel good about America. It’s easy to forget that we used to celebrate being a prosperous country implicitly of white Christians who could do stuff like win battles with state-of-the-art fighter planes to defend the free world against the Soviet Union. It was released around the time that Lee Greenwood came out with his famous ballad. It fit in quite well with the national mood at that point in time.

He’d probably be charged with a hate crime for making this today.

Conservative hacks are praising the new one as somehow not being woke. I suppose the plot of Woke Top Gun would begin with Maverick waking up from bottom surgery with a new lease on life to lead his diverse air wing on a bombing mission against a white supremacist terror training camp and then returns home to a whirlwind romance with Whoopi Goldberg. The un-woke standard is pretty damn low.

There’s probably no way to make a movie that reflects the reality of modern-day America and have it be something that a sane, healthy person would feel good about. My guess is that the sequel channels their nostalgia for how things were back in 1986. I don’t blame them for wanting to feel good about their country, but the reality is that there’s really nothing to feel good about. To pretend otherwise is what’s referred to as “coping” in dissident discourse.

To make a good movie about modern America requires the acknowledgment that things are going rather poorly and developing the plot from that premise. For example, Hell or High Water is an outstanding movie about decline, the predatory nature of our financial institutions, and how difficult it is for ordinary people to get ahead. Pretending that the nightmare that is the new America can function just as well as the America from nearly 40 years ago doesn’t work.

  1. VERY good article sir! Don’t forget the “woman in charge” of Tom in the original. Real PC began in the early 80’s. There was some before that but not a lot. It’s disgusting for any normal person to see brown woman pilots … black pilots … blacks in charge … and everyone’s “equal.” Definition of equal : Exactly the same as.

I was shocked and saddened to see, of all places, Vdare allowed an article in praising Top Gun II !!!! Patriots need to write to them about that.

Yeah, anyways the possessed Jews in Hollywood will keep churning out freak show after freak show. What’s the solution?

Well … you know by now 🙂

  2. The first movie was excellent, and I had the privilege of watching it with hundreds from the Nimitz carrier group. I believe a few had been extras in the movie. They were exhilarated during all the scenes with the boat and the aircraft.

I’ll probably see this one when it comes on tv.

    Thanks for the non-review.

  3. With the number of queers in the armed forces, this ole boy here ain’t quite sure I would want to be called “Top Gun” or by any other broke back sounding handle for that matter. The only two tempting things about the Navy might be that my father served and possibly if I did I could catch and interrogate a foreign intelligence agent, which the entire government of the US is infiltrated with. Since we took the USS Liberty incident on the cuff, you have to ask what function the quasi-government here is willing to perform for a Confederate like me? Bury me at the hand of a qusi-ally. Or, how about dropping protections on life over property before instituting the selective service again! Why would we look forward to wholesome young men deploying to a foreign conflict and our being left with the rejects, gangsta thugs and parolees without having an open ended option to curb their stealing and vandalism, at a minimum. What brigade will be available when the Mexi-cartels annex El Paso and the feds go forth and kneel down in front of them? Patriotic films on one hand and gun control funding with the other fools only fools. Violent video game themes and rap music lyrics for profit combined with anti-Constitutional lobbying via the same profits will put us in the hands of the oligarchs, and possibly pushed into the refugee camp living conditions by the same mechanisms that have the Ukranians moving into such. The Azov Batallion trusted Kolomoisky and look where they are now. Rah,rah we are the warriors… then oops, where are our reinforcements. Off to the gulag, I guess Zelensky has our back, worry not! Bolsheviks on each side of the battle lines playing both sides against the middle, greedy puppets abound…sound familiar? Hollywood and Washington,DC aka Kevin Morris and Hunter Biden.
