  1. Sad content. But much needed.

I got myself hooked on painkillers a few years ago while self medicating for an injury i didnt have the insurance to treat. Some muscle tears only get treated with bedrest and painkillers anyhow. I didn’t need a doctor to tell me what I already knew.

I got myself unhooked from painkillers sometime later without rehab or counseling and methadone because i still didn’t have insurance. Turns out most addiction is also just treated with bedrest and other drugs (i used alcohol instead of methadone…genius i know and it worked… for getting off the opiates anyway)

The effects of the addiction were worse than the injury. I should have just been shot like a lame horse instead. But I didn’t have life insurance either.

More recently I’ve had to self detox from alcohol, and the only thing worse than that was the recent groin injury I didn’t treat (except with bedrest…) because I didnt want the doctor to put me on opiates and all they would give me otherwise was ibuprofen i can get anywhere.

True stories from my slapstick life. The life of teh sock.
