What You Didn’t See in Texas

This past week in Texas, we experienced a “Snow and Ice Apocalypse.” The last time we had temperatures this low, and for this long and with this much snow, was shortly after Reconstruction (they weren’t exactly worried about having WIFI back then). Many of the reports on Twitter and on national news were showing trucks and cars in ditches, people in line at the grocery store (like something from the USSR waiting for their bread), general destruction, and hopelessness due to the weather and the failures of ERCOT.

I live in a small rural town in the Hill Country. I was able to see many great things firsthand that are not being covered by the media.

I saw a man, bundled up in a Carhart jacket and with a large dually truck, have his tail gate down with mass amounts of jugs filled with water in the bed of his truck. The man had filled the jugs full of water from his own well. He had a sign that said, “Here is some water if y’all need it.”  He didn’t ask for anything in return.

I saw many a cowboy in their jacked up 4-wheel drive trucks pulling cars and trucks out of the ditches with their winches. We even saw one truck pulling out a deputy’s car! At our local grocery store, we saw several young men helping elderly folks carry their groceries out to their cars and trucks. Everyone was very courteous, as all Texans should be.

What I didn’t see: I didn’t see any feminist out there helping Texans. I didn’t see one blue-haired harpy offering free water or warmth. I didn’t see one trans alphabet freak pulling people out of ditches. I didn’t see one antifa Twitter doxxer helping the elderly with their groceries.

I’m sure I just wasn’t looking hard enough.

I saw a lot of good in the Texan people. Of course, that won’t be reported by the media. Just remember there’s still good in the world, even during tough times.

Retake Everything.

  1. I saw the men of my rural neighborhood come together to restore power to the community water system.

And on the issue of the Puerto Rock AOC holding a fundraiser? Well, hell it’s more than any Yankee ever did for us!
