The Last Will and Testament of a Free Dixian

I’ve been contemplating the future, as Father Time whispers ever so low and gently into my soul, reminding me of my mortality. His voice dares me to look into the mirror, knowing my gaze will alter the images of my youthful past, and attest to the wastefulness of my own vanity. Its witness to the brevity of life being all too faithful. And with that timely reflection, my mind rushes to the things that must be done, and to layout a vision for what an Independent South may look like.

Over the years, I’ve written much about growing up in an era when the South was the acknowledged apex of American culture and unmaligned. And now, as those memories are fading – as we who lived in those magnificent times age, my desire to see the South well on her path to freedom has been hastened. Therefore, I will focus on laying out an action plan, as if I were writing my last will and testament. I hereby give my executors specific instructions as to how my estate, Dixie, should be preserved and expanded.

“In a Free Dixie” is an expression common among the writers and fellow travelers here at Identity Dixie. Sometimes it is a reaction to an unmentionable behavior allowed to continue unabated in the land of our ancestors, our homeland. But, often it is a hopeful statement of the future for which we all long.

Therefore, I, Father Dabney, being of sound mind and body, do hereby bequeath the hope of a Free and Independent Dixie to the heirs of the greatest and noblest people to ever occupy this earthen sod. I do charge those who will inherit this sweet Dixieland to accomplish and defend with a vigilance that has never before been known among the kingdoms of men, and to maintain that vigilance into perpetuity.

In a Free Dixie, I do and maintain:

The Charge

Let there be a rebirth of beauty, a revival of what excites all of our Southern senses. Build churches and statues to honor our God and our heroes. Design towns and cities that are functional and safe, rejecting architecture that is not pleasing to the eye, that does not remind you of things noble and virtuous. Eschew designs that value only function and cost. Do not neglect to take the time to build that which will last, inspiring awe for millennia to come among our people and those soon envious of the revival of our homeland.

Remember that your people have always been stewards of the land, not ideological nor momentary environmentalists. Therefore, design and grow gardens with purpose for food and beauty and the enjoyment of your children. Honor the beasts that sustain your people through their sacrifice; treat them with respect; raise them in ways that are pleasing to your Heavenly Father, never with cruelty, or neglect. Do not be consumed with feeding the world. Rather, raise crops in proportion with a sustainable plan that regenerates the soil with which we have been gifted. Keep our lakes, rivers, creeks, and streams clean for the benefit of the wildlife that inhabit them. Guard Dixie’s coastline, her oceans and seas, from pollution and overfishing. Manage all the natural resources of the South for the benefit of her children, without respect to foreigners that have no rights to her bounty.

Create art and compose music that embodies the creativity of Western Civilization, and do it with a Southern style. Recall the rhythms of our forefathers while playing upon your instruments. Let your Southern voices call in siren song to our people, and let all your music glorify our Lord. Tell stories of the greatness of our heroes and the godlessness of our enemies.

Preserve the truth of who we are as a family, a tribe, a people, and never entertain the narratives of our enemies.

Above all else, make marriages between our people. Marry only within our Southern tribes, ensuring that our people with continue, grow, and flourish. Never hesitate to have as many children as the Lord allows. Reject the idolatry of selfishness and consumerism. Make all your financial decisions as to leave your children and grandchildren an inheritance. So that, in the years to come, they will not be impoverished, and you will have obeyed the teachings of the Holy Scriptures.

Deo Vindice!

God save the South!
