Myth of the 20th Century: Brazil – a Tumble in the Jungle

The largest country in Latin America – in terms of population, land mass, and economy – is a crown worn indisputably by Brazil. But the history of this land, spanning four timezones and over five centuries of development, is one marked by tumultuous governance and political conflict, with different crowns worn by monarchs, military dictators, and democratic politicians alike, ruling over a teeming population of millions of former slaves, colonists and wannabe conquistadors. Tonight, we are joined by Lance from Lance’s Legion to help us work out the nuances of this complex and fascinating country, as well as impart some of the potential lessons of managing a large and complex demography with high rates of poverty and crime.
