Heatin’ Up in Hotlanta

A lack of imagination and skill constrain violence in America far more than conscience and consequences. The embattled city of Atlanta got a lesson in this principle. “Someone” had stolen a box of 40mm armor-piercing grenades used in a Mk 19 grenade launcher from a shipping container. Fortunately, they dumped them. That’s presumably because they couldn’t figure out how to utilize this sort of munition.

Some mysteries are resolved in the last chapter. Others, by explosions.

If you’re a disgruntled young man of color about to shoot up a house party or rap concert, would you settle for a lousy pistol when you could catch dem fools slippin’ with a projectile that can penetrate three inches of steel and has a kill radius of 50 feet?

Two rounds remain missing, so the city ain’t off the hook yet. If someone does try to screw around with them, he’s most likely to blow himself up along with everyone in the vicinity. The chances of this happening accidentally on Facebook during the filming of a menacing rap recital are pretty decent.

Sooner or later, it’s probable these things are going to kill somebody. In 2008, a man in Virginia blew himself with a cannonball used in a war of aggression that ended way back in 1865. It seems like whoever sets them off won’t have to worry about limping away mangled from the blast. I suppose there’s an upside to everything.

Atlanta can catch a round, but it sure can’t catch a break. I subscribe to various Telegram channels that showcase diversity. Yesterday, I came across footage of a 15-year-old boy and girl plugging a security guard in broad daylight during a robbery at Lenox Square Mall. The first things which came to mind were:

  • Why conduct a robbery on camera in a well-lit area?
  • Why choose a guy making minimum wage as the target?
  • Why shoot the poor man due to his poverty?
  • Why get a 1st degree murder charge for no money?
You don’t go there to shop, but rather to get “tried.”

It took about four seconds for my common sense to kick in, and then I said to myself, “Oh, right.” I guess I hadn’t had enough coffee yet. I’m not a morning person. Speaking of mornings, a man was taking a stroll around the upscale suburb of Buckhead, Georgia when he took two rounds as “part of a violent spree that also included shooting at joggers and ended with a car crash that left a man seriously injured.”

The residents of Buckhead are so fed up with the antics of these teenagers that they’re moving to secede from Atlanta. They don’t seem to realize that doxing themselves as racists will be the most likely result of this effort. I’m not sure what distinguishes Atlanta from Anywhere, USA at this late stage.

“Lawd, pleeze let dem ball in peace.”

  1. Got family in that area and they are moving to Hanceville, AL area and confirm it is this bad. If not outright violence, it is aggressive, loud, shitty behavior pretty much everywhere.

Oldest son was Airborne and can confirm that the amount of military materiel that walks off post is staggering. Sent a picture of the remains of the hand of one of the 85 IQs who was using a .50 cal round to pound something…yes it went off. Let’s hope the missing grenades remain an object of curiosity deep in the hood vs. part of a public July 4 event.
