If 2019 could be summed up in a single phrase, it might be the year that conspiracy theories became mainstream. With the very public arrest of Wikileaks’s founder Julian Assange and the still unexplained burning of the world’s most well known Cathedral in Notre Dame, things came to a head when convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, billionaire of murky origin and operator of a private island known for shuttling public figures to it on the ‘Lolita Express’ was allegedly found dead in his cell of an apparent suicide. In a rare coming together of the Left and Right, the slogan “Epstein Didn’t Kill Himself” began appearing on the bottom of coffee cups and in public spaces, demonstrating a new form of ‘Samizdat’ in America more reminiscent of Soviet Russia and the intrigues of living under a totalitarian regime than the supposed land of the free and the home of the brave. Tonight we are joined by esteemed guests Borzoi and Titus to reminisce about an incredibly surreal year and make predictions about the outlook of the empire in the coming one.
