I’ve never planned a war before, but if given the task, there are basic metrics I’d expect. For example, artillery. How much of each piece is available? How many shells might each of these fire on average per day? Let’s take the highest estimate to be safe, then compare that to existing stocks and how much we can produce and supply to the front lines per month. That’s some simple math to do before the shooting you’re planning to provoke starts.
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff had to testify before Congress that “we’re learning” how many shells are required to fight a massive land war against Russia on its border. Nobody will get that job without going right along with the idiocy, so it makes sense from that angle, although it really is astounding.
I’d like to think I’d also have the integrity to resign and speak out if I was ordered undertake this endeavor due to its recklessness, horrific human cost, and guaranteed prospects of failure. I’d keep my conscience, my six-figure pension, and help my country avert catastrophe.
America has made colossal mistakes based on bad information in the past. For example, intervening in a Vietnamese civil war because we concluded that this was a battle ground in the USSR’s quest for global communism, and if it fell, more would be next. Unlike taking out every single country unfriendly to Israel, “Domino Theory” had a saleable logic to it.
Although misguided, the war was a winnable proposition, and we could produce what was needed to fight it. We lost because global public opinion wouldn’t tolerate the massive amount of civilians who’d be killed if we ramped up the bombing enough to bring the North to its knees. It wasn’t always failure, though.
NATO was actually a good idea. It set up an alliance to defend Western Europe from the USSR, thus deterring a conflict. George F. Kennan, one of the primary architects of the policy to contain the Soviets, was horrified that it was being expanded towards Russia and warned they’d eventually take action.
Kennan also opposed the bombing of Serbia and the laughable justification for invading Iraq, but by that time he was an old man on the sidelines. Nobody with a Scots-Irish background was making policy. Instead, full control had been captured by a group of people without reason or restraint. Things are now run by the neocons who attend religious services on Saturdays. They have a religious imperative to seek total domination of the planet.
These people can’t even seem to comprehend that tools can be abused to the point where they don’t work anymore. To them, Heritage America is a mass of disposable cattle without souls whom they hold in contempt. Policy is made accordingly, but they also try to use us as a tool for their global agenda.
It’s worked before but we’ve been exploited and abused for so long that we’re no longer a population capable of fighting a huge conflict. The industrial base of America, and the middle-class it sustained, has been so hollowed out that we don’t even have the ability to sustain one either.
Perhaps one aspect of the path to Hell is that people can’t see they’re on it. There’s no way to win a war against Russia or China, and if we’re making progress at it, they’ve promised to use nuclear weapons. Meanwhile, the supply chain shutdowns entailed in a conflict with China would plunge this country into chaos. But, they keep pushing. It’s a kind of insanity that could only be biblical in its explanation.
Even Putin literally says that Russia is at war with “satanism.” The neocons aren’t even capable of desisting from a plot that’s failed. One of their dogs is now coming out with a new moniker to market the same strategy.
There’s nothing new about it. Basically, a massive expansion of NATO and military spending. He wants a NATO-type organization for Asia, and Taiwan to be armed to the teeth. He asserts that the Russian/Chinese partnership can be broken up, along with the Russian Federation, after Putin is toppled following defeat in Ukraine. The Chinese can be induced to screw Russia over by offering them an eastern part of the federation. They’ll also be excluded from influencing the Middle East. So, basically this is how a new Cold War will be set up with China as the enemy this time around.
Bolton is being trotted out to propose a strategy fundamentally untethered from reality. First of all, the Russians aren’t losing. The situation in Ukraine will be resolved to their satisfaction. It could fall apart very quickly, but Bolton can keep lying until it does.
Second, the U.S. has sown death and destruction across the Middle East for over 20 years. China has been able to come in and set up a peace plan that acknowledges the interests of all sides. It’s introducing the use of the yuan and integrating the region with the Belt & Road Initiative. Overthrowing the governments that made these deals because they’re in the self-interest of their countries with leaders who want to get back to the old agenda that only serves Israel isn’t going to work.
Bolton is just a barking dog for these psychopaths. What makes his article interesting is that it seems they’re at least acknowledging that a kinetic war with China isn’t feasible, so it’s better to organize a coalition for a new Cold War against it. At the end of this, China would presumably be digested even though that never worked with Russia.
It also shows that they simply can’t back off from Russia no matter what happens in Ukraine. Thus, Bolton’s implication is that we’ll have a hot war and then a long cold one. In the end, his masters will get the total domination they’ve been seeking all along. I suppose this is how they’re salvaging the narrative without making any concession to reality about how badly things are going for them.
