Chicago: Lessons in Leadership

I never see Chicago unless it’s from the air as I depart O’Hare. Sometimes, I look down at the South Side (the primary warzone), and feel like C-3PO in the escape pod at the opening of Star Wars. “The damage doesn’t look so bad from up here,” I say to myself as the plane veers towards the East Coast.

I’ve sporadically written about its dire predicaments, ranging from bonds to bullets, since 2017. That’s when it really popped onto my radar as what could be one of the first major dominoes to fall as part of a Weimerican implosion. Systemic failures start somewhere.

Chicago and the state of Illinois are mired in wildly unsustainable debts and other obligations such as pensions. They’ve managed to stay afloat in the short term by avoiding stuff like road maintenance and various borrowing schemes of dubious provenance. In the long term, they’re completely screwed, perhaps worse so than any other case in the country.

The long term got a whole lot shorter after the controlled economic demolition of COVID-19. They’ve been begging for massive bailouts under the guise of virus relief, when in reality, it just kicked in the door faster than projected. It’s up in the air how much they’ll end up getting in total, how long that keeps the ship from sinking, and how that could be done on a national scale without inducing some sort of broader calamity.

The sack of the metro area following the death of George Floyd has dramatically escalated the crisis. WTTW News published a leaked conference call on strategy between Mayor Lori Lightfoot, an African-American lesbian sired by ET: The Extraterrestrial (deadbeat dad), and the city’s aldermen that occurred on May 31st.

In it, they express alarm, bewilderment, cry, and trade various obscenities with each other. Remember, these are the folks in charge once civil unrest gets underway. Bankers own this country and decide elections, but they can’t do much in a situation like this but request protection. Politicians have real power. That’s why the riots happened.

The article contains the audio of the call should you care to listen for an hour. Suffice it to say, it’s compelling evidence of why a prepper lifestyle could prove a rational decision. What defines their interlocution is the complete inability to form a rational, coherent plan for getting the city back under control. They couldn’t even be professional with each other. Their sentiments provide some juicy confirmation bias:

A Black alderwoman was livid that National Guard troops were deployed to protect upscale businesses from pillage by her constituents;
A Latino alderman warned that gangbangers in his ward were compensating for a lack of law enforcement by threatening to mow down blacks with AK-47s; and
-A White alderman points out the ramifications of an attack against armed homeowners.

The most entertaining exchanges occurred between Mayor Lightfoot and Ray Lopez, the alderman mentioned above. He was quite reasonable in stating that he had a potential racial battle on his hands which could require more than a curfew to avert, and demanded that the mayor offer specific interventions.

When she told Lopez he was “100% full of shit,” he responded with “well fuck you then………mayor you need to check your fuckin’ attitude.” This exchange beautifully underscores a day in which a soaring new record of 18 dead and 85 wounded was achieved in their dying metropolis.

This grim total was probably padded significantly by the racial strife Mr. Lopez tried to prevent. Blacks are given free rein to shoot each other in Chicago every day, and they’ve never reached this figure even over a whole weekend.

If I were a windy city SWPL, this bloody fiasco would be giving me great concern as to just how I fit into my current ZIP code. Not a looter, not a gangbanger, not armed, and not someone worth caring about by politicians or law enforcement. Sure, you can get on your knees and affirm that black lives matter and nothing else, but personal safety still lurks around your private thoughts.

My suspicion is that the city’s rapid descent into a chaotic warzone will have a significant portion of its peaceful, productive taxpayers thinking about relocating out-of-state, thereby hastening the spiral. There’s been talk for awhile now about taking a big bite out every Illinois property owners’ ass in order to keep the ship afloat. Taxes are already through the roof, which is the major reason why there’s been a heavy outflow of net-contributors for years.

With so many businesses bankrupted in the economic collapse and destroyed in the rioting, could 2020 mark the decisive inflection point in Chicago’s demise? Listening to them panic on that call gives one the impression that the damage is much worse than depicted on cable news. What would be the implications of a city of this stature going belly up?

  1. Once Boston, New York and Chicago collapse, the Empire will, too. They, not Washington DC, are the key cities.

  2. The country has long been evolving a political reality.

    That new model?

    Two countries in one.

One country, is, for lack of an established term, is Ruralia – the smalltowns, rural areas, and cities that are run according to traditional American principles of free speech, law & order, civility, and respect.

The other country I will dub ‘Urbanamor’, it being those large cities which, run by totalitarian Bolshevik Whites and Anarchist non-Whites in concert, will build an alternate reality which be a modern rehearkening back to the European Ghettos of old.

These two countries do live side by side, and will continue to live side by side, whether the United States of America stays together in it’s present configuration or not, the reason being that both sides have plenty of adherents and both sides have every right to be apart from those communities which embody that which they find anathema.

The wife and I drove from the boonies to the metropolitan area of Virginia Beach-Chesapeake today. We spent the whole day shopping and eating, and found nothing but friendly, civil, courteous, and helpful people, both Black and White, all day long.

And today was no different than any other day we have gone there in recent years.

    What does this mean?

To me it means that, just because some place are going to go down the crapper, does not mean that most will.

Most Americans, of any race, class, location, or age, are a pleasant and orderly people who want to experience pleasant things and be pleasant to others.

Most Americans are not chomping at the bit to burn property or shoot at anyone.

It may not make for exciting blog-read, but, is that not praiseworthy?!

And there is absolutely nothing that President Obama, George Soros, CNN, or renegade elements of The United States’ Government, or their irregular militia, ‘Antifa’ & Black Lives Matter’ can do to change this.

    We are a pleasant people.

  3. Well Mr. Shackleford Chicago has been going downhill for a very very long time long before “LightFoot” was ever mayor, is that her real last name?People in Chicago are nothing but jerks from everyone I know that’s ever visited Chicago, never use the Chicago airport you’ll experience some of the cruelest people you’ve ever seen. Chicago is a 3rd world dump, that’s just gray malaise everywhere filled with ghettos an bitter business people who hate their lives. Politicians didn’t even have to ruin Chicago, the residents ruined it themselves without any help through their barbaric ways as far back as the 30s when Al Capone ruled there with an iron fist. I’m not an expert on gang history, because I’ve never been all that interested in that filth so please pardon me if another gang ruled there or another gang rules there now such as Antifa.

They say we can’t tolerate anyone down here ,well whew wee in Chicago they can’t even tolerate their own friends an will betray them in a second with no hesitation over something as silly as a pair of shoes. If your in the wrong neighborhood at the wrong time you’ll get shot with no mercy by a gang or a mentally unstable resident who has a problem with visitors. They also say some of the most disgusting foul language that I’ve ever heard in my entire life, an say the F word every 5 words, I generally dislike foul language. I’ll never understand why so many people see that kind of degenerate environment as cool an why it’s portrayed in so many shows an movies along with retarded mind numbing rap music that I personally just can’t stand. Chicago is gone an will never be saved, nor does it deserve to be in my opinion. Personally I don’t want it to completely fall, because then there’s a chance those people will come down here an we don’t want them. If anyone reading this is from up there please stay up North, any Chicagoans period please stay out the south cause we don’t want you an your barbaric ways invading our communities. Down south that kind of behavior will not be tolerated.

If you can’t tell already I hate Chicago with a passion, and while I only hope the best for them as a city even though it probably won’t be getting better at least in any our lifetimes, its hard not to laugh sometimes at just have much of a joke they are along with all those other major cities like Memphis, Atlanta, Detroit an so on where most of these “completely civilized” protests are happening. I assure that none of the violent nonsense an other major issues that politicians haven’t done anything about in Chicago an cities like it happens in the civilized towns in the South where everyone is your neighbor an crime is low, an they’re ran by guess who? (southern white people), there I said it call me a racist. Call me whatever you want, I’m not saying that to be “hateful” I’m just saying it cause it’s the cold hard truth an I don’t think anyone would be able to look at me in the eyes an brutally honest disagree with me on that including flaming progressives who live there an actually have a job an contribute anything worthwhile rather than being in a gang while living off that sweet welfare provided by the great society that has been proven to destroy so many black families that has also contributed to making Chicago, Chicago.

Ill always be thankful that I’ve never had to live or visit Chicago let alone be from there. Chicago will continue to be what it is, and nothing will ever change until it’s residents find another place to destroy.
